Deposed PM summoned over alleged abuse of power in construction of Jati Umra roadLAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) sent a summon to Nawaz Sharif on Friday over the construction of a road leading to the Jati Umra residence of the Sharif family. Nawaz Sharif has been asked to appear before the ‘combined investigation team’ of NAB on April 21, said a notification issued by NAB. The Lahore NAB alleged that Nawaz in connivance with his younger brother Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif, constructed the Jati Umra road by abusing powers as the premier back in 1998. It also claimed that the district council Lahore had to drop various other projects of the public welfare at the cost of Nawaz Sharif’s ‘illegal’ directives. According to NAB’s investigation, Nawaz being the then chief executive of the country had used his ‘undue influence’ on local administration for his ‘personal’ project.
