Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has emphasised the government’s firm stance against anti-state movements and gatherings and warned that those involved in such activities would be arrested. After a meeting with the advisory council committee on law and order, he told reporters that law-enforcing agencies have stepped up efforts to improve law and order and prevent crime. Addressing the issue of traffic during Eid travels, the home advisor said that all toll plazas have been instructed to work efficiently to prevent traffic congestion. Moreover, long vehicles and those carrying construction materials have been barred from using highways for three days before and after Eid. “For the seven days before and after Eid, law-enforcing agencies have been instructed not to stop vehicles on the roads unless there is specific prior intelligence,” said the home advisor.
