Ironically enough, the science of science communication—a particularly unsettled field of study—suggests that aiming to simply fill in the knowledge gaps is misguided. Given our roles as communicators, we’re often asked: how do you have meaningful conversations with people who deny well-established science? A disclaimer—we know that there is a lot more to swaying those who reject empirical reality than the tips below. He has often referred to religion as a “mind virus,” denigrating religious people as “delusional.” Perhaps unsurprisingly, evolution deniers aren’t interested in Dawkins’ arguments. Indeed, those who reject empirical truths make evidence-based and data-driven arguments all the time.
