The United States has announced plans to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement with Mexico and Canada. I do think it is possible to agree on an updated NAFTA by the end of the calendar year. In many U.S. states, Mexico is, if not their most important export market, among the top three. NAFTA has allowed companies to become more efficient as they compete around the world. (Without NAFTA), U.S. companies and jobs would be at a disadvantage vis a vis Asia or Europe.
