Nicholas Patrick Petre, 49, was found unresponsive in a property on Chambers Street in Workington on September 26, 2025. Senior Coroner for Cumbria, Ms Kirsty Gomersal, opened the inquest on Thursday, January 22, and outlined the known circumstances surrounding Mr Petre's death. Ms Gomersal said that following the discovery of Mr Petre, he was confirmed deceased at 3.04pm. The cause of death currently offered to the coroner is 'the combined toxic effect of bromazolam, cocaine, heroin/morphine and methadone'. Ms Gomersal said: "Given that the cause of Mr Petre's death is not from natural causes, I am satisfied that an inquest is required."
