Injury-hit Maidenhead United fall out of the play-offs after home defeat to Weston

Maidenhead United no longer have it in their own hands to finish in the National League South play-off places after Weston Super Mare deservedly beat them 2-1 at York Road this afternoon. Matt Robinson's glancing header reduced the deficit but the Magpies couldn't find an equaliser, despite having sustained pressure on the Weston goal. Like their recent home defeat to Ebbsfleet United the hosts started slowly and Weston seized upon that hesitancy and doubt. Deflation reigned around York Road and Weston looked the more likely to add to their tally with Britton flashing another attempt narrowly over the bar and heading wide at the near post. But Weston - who’ve moved into the play-off places at the expense of Maidenhead off the back of this result - were canny.
