Other age groups within the 15-49 age bracket had smaller increases while no difference was observed for women aged 45-49. Nearly a quarter of all women aged between 15 and 49 in Nairobi who were not using modern methods in 2010 were using them by 2014. Many women who were using the modern methods before (31 per cent ) continued using them with only 14 per cent discontinuing their use. Despite the increased use of modern methods, 32 per cent of the city's women preferred to use traditional contraceptives or not use any method at all.
