Infosys sets up delivery centres in Russia, Croatia

MUMBAI: Infosys said it had set up delivery centres in Croatia and Russia for its engineering services business and that it had taken over some employees who worked with French industrial conglomerate Alstom to service its engineering clients. The Bengaluru-headquartered IT company took over the Alstom employees after the French company was bought by General Electric. The European Union had mandated that the combined firm divest part of its assets in the merger approval process. The new delivery centres will also serve as centres of excellence for engineering skills in turbo machinery, aerospace and automotive and serve other engineering clients. "The establishment of centres in Croatia and Russia enables us to tap into a rich pool of engineering talent and bring this to the industrial and manufacturing companies that we work with around the world," Sandeep Dadlani, Global Head-Manufacturing, Retail, CPG and Logistics at Infosys, said in a statement. The Alstom team was a key part of the deal. "The combination of the former Alstom team with the global footprint of Infosys engineering services will help us meet our growth targets in the gas turbine industry," Juerg Schmidli, president of Ansaldo Energia in Switzerland, said in the statement.
