HEADLINE inflation accelerated to 1.3 percent in November from 0.8 percent in October, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported on Thursday. Last month’s result however was still significantly lower than the 6.0 percent recorded in November last year. It also settled within the 1.2 to 1.3 percent forecast of analysts earlier polled by The Manila Times. “The uptrend in inflation in November 2019 was mainly brought about by higher annual increase in alcoholic beverages and tobacco,”said National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Claire Dennis S. Mapa. Mapa said the higher inflation was also because of higher annual rate in housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels.
