File photo shows the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. A 34-week pregnant woman diagnosed with the coronavirus has given birth to a baby through Caesarean section – the use of surgery to deliver babies – at a negative pressure ward at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Hospital Authority's Chief Manager of Clinical Effectiveness & Technology Management, Dr Linda Yu, said the baby and the mother have been isolated, and the baby requires intubation after having breathing difficulties. Yu said scientific literature suggests that there is a chance of transmission from mother to baby, but the risk is not high and tests will be arranged for the baby.
