Her death was first announced by Democratic Party deputy secretary-general Andi Arief on his Twitter account on Saturday. Prior to her death, Ani had undergone blood cancer treatment at the National University of Singapore Hospital in Singapore. Her health condition had begun deteriorating on Thursday and she was admitted to intensive care for a high fever. Ani was known as an outspoken supporter of her husband and sons’ political endeavors.
