SEPANG: Indonesian rider Afridza Munandar (pic) passed away after a race incident in the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup (IATC) race at Sepang International Circuit. The incident occurred at Turn 10 on the first lap and the race was red flagged immediately. Despite the best efforts of circuit medical staff and those at the hospital, Munandar succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. Munandar was a standout rider in the IATC season so far, taking two wins, two second places and two third-place finishes. Italian rider Marco Simoncelli died in the 2011 edition of the Malaysia GP after he was run over during the race.
