JAKARTA: An Indonesian man broadcast his suicide on Facebook, which shocked netizens before the government called for the social media platform to take down the content. Facebook took down the live broadcast of the man committing suicide at 8.30 p.m. on the same day after it had been aired on the social media. “We put a priority on monitoring social media in society because the impact on people is quite significant,” he said. Facebook stated that the social media platform immediately removed unethical material and reported it to relevant law enforcement agencies when it was detected. "We have zero tolerance for violent content,” Facebook said in a statement.
