Indonesia volcano erupts forcing anyone within 3km to evacuate

A volcano has erupted on the border between Central Java and Yogyakarta in Indonesia causing chaos and possible flight diversions to the region. Thick smoke, volcanic ash and pyroclastic materials were released during the eruption, Miriam Tulevski from the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism told Daily Mail Australia. The danger zone has been restricted to a 3km radius from the peak of Mount Merapi. Merapi is the most active volcano in Indonesia and thousands of people live in villages on the flanks of the volcano. Stunned villagers lined the streets at the foot of the volcano to record the sight of thick smoke billowing from the mountain above.
