Indigenous people make up over three-quarters of homeless population in Thunder Bay, Ont. – CBCNov 15, 2024More than 550 people surveyed in 24-hour point-in-time countTaylor Adair says she isn’t surprised the majority of people in Thunder Bay, Ont., experiencing homelessness are Indigenous, but the numbers are still disheartening. A point-in-time count in the city found 557 people experiencing homelessness, 78 per cent of which were Indigenous. The count was done over a 24-hour period the first weekend of October and was overseen by the Lakehead Social Planning Council (LSPC).
