Indiana hires Dayton’s Archie Miller to replace Tom Crean

(Joe Robbins/Getty Images)Indiana announced Saturday that it is hiring Dayton’s Archie Miller as its next men’s basketball coach. A new era of Indiana Basketball begins now. Indiana fired Tom Crean earlier this month after nine seasons and just four NCAA tournament berths, and now Miller will take on one of the most demanding jobs in college basketball. The Hoosiers’ fan base expects deep NCAA tournament runs every season, something Crean was not able to deliver (Indiana went 18-16 and made just the NIT this season). Miller’s hiring ends speculation that Indiana alum Steve Alford would leave UCLA to coach his alma mater.
