Indian vaccines enabled launch of Sri Lanka’s vaccination drive ahead of plans: Indian HC

In response to the media queries on the supply of Indian manufactured Covid-19 vaccines to Sri Lanka, the spokesperson of the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka issued a detailed statement. It was further highlighted that India has also supplied vaccines to health workers and peacekeepers globally. The total supply of Indian made vaccines to Sri Lanka currently stands at 1.2 million doses. The spokesperson further noted that the first of these consignments played an essential role in the launch of Sri Lanka’s vaccination drive, ahead of the earlier plan. India’s vaccine manufacturing capacity is currently the largest in the world and is being enhanced to meet the emergency global demand of duly approved Covid-19 vaccines.
