The director of NIV, Dr Devendra Mourya, told The Indian Express, this study has shown that Indian mosquitoes pick up the ZIKV in a natural way. The mosquitoes were experimentally infected with zika virus (African Strain MR-766) through the oral-feeding route, which is the natural mode by which mosquitoes get the virus.
