Indian community opens new Sikh temple in Accra

Regional News of Friday, 13 February 2026Source: www.ghanaweb.comA new Sikh temple has been opened in Accra, marking a milestone for the Indian community which has been present in Ghana for more than a century. Leaders of the Indian community describe the new temple as more than a place of worship. They say it will serve as a centre for spiritual teaching, community service and personal development. Indian migration to Ghana dates back to the early 1900s, when members of the Sindhi community settled in what was then the Gold Coast. During Liberia’s civil war in the early 1990s, several Sikh families relocated their businesses to Ghana.
