Indian chillies to be tested before being importing to Sri Lanka

NewsThe Health Ministry says it would test chillies imported from India to determine whether they contain Aflatoxin chemicals, a process it said would require five days. Issuing a statement, the ministry noted that Aflatoxin chemicals are produced in chillies due to fungus, making chillies unsuitable for consumption. At present, tests are being carried out for atleast 10 days, before releasing them to the market.
