India’s army chief General Bipin Rawat said on Wednesday a “planned” influx of people from Bangladesh into the country’s northeast is taking place as part of a “proxy warfare” by Pakistan with support from China. He made the above remarks while addressing a conference in New Delhi on bridging gaps and securing borders in India’s northeast region on Wednesday. Bipin Rawat said the influx was taking place with an aim to keep the area “disturbed,” according to Press Trust of India (PTI). Assam is currently working on a national register of citizens to find out those living illegally in the state. Gen Rawat also said the Indian central government was “seriously taking several measures” to ensure development of the region and that “should take care of lot of things.”He added that India would have “more problem in segregating people” so “people who are creating trouble for India need to be identified.”
