Indian aggression could have serious impact on region, Qureshi tells UN chief

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday wrote a letter to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, saying Indian aggression had serious implications for the regional peace and stability. In his letter, which was delivered to Guterres’ office by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UN, Maleeha Lodhi, Qureshi wrote of the Indian forces’ violation of the Line of Control on the morning of February 26. India’s ruling party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was using war-mongering for political gains, especially in light of their upcoming general elections, Qureshi pointed out. “Deliver my letter to the members of the UN Security Council as part of the official record,” Qureshi noted. Further, Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi circulated to the UN member states the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) condemnation of the Indian warplanes’ airspace violations along the LoC.
