The High Commission on Monday said 35 owners of top industry groups, including Beximco vice-chairman Salman F Rahman, Bashundhara Chairman Ahmed Sobhan and FBCCI President Matlub Ahmed joined the Sunday evening reception at the new Indian High Commission complex. They supported a "strong economic partnership with India through private sector initiatives”, the High Commission said in a statement. The annual bilateral trade now stands at more than $6 billion in 2015-2016. Since 2000-01, Indian exports to Bangladesh have increased six fold and Bangladesh exports have increased ten times. The High Commissioner recently said companies from both India and Bangladesh are exploring “new opportunities” for investment and setting up joint ventures in each other’s country.
