India's maiden foray into the rival circle was in the 16th minute, which earned them their first penalty corner. Video referrals seemed to be the flavour of the game as it was taken several times in penalty corner actions. India's second penalty corner was awarded on a successful video referral, but they then lost a follow-up penalty corner when Malaysia successfully challenged the award for a foul by the first wave of defenders. In the second half, Malaysia were awarded their second penalty corner on an appeal for video review.
