India plans to set up separate space station

New Delhi: India plans to set up a separate station in space, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Chairman Dr K Sivan announced here on Thursday. The preparations are underway, but we hope to take the project ahead only after the successful completion of Gaganyaan, in 2022," Dr Sivan said. While the space agency did not divulge further details on the project, Dr Sivan said it would be conceptualised over the next 5-7 years. Gaganyaan would carry three astronauts into space, and their selection process is likely to be completed in next six months. "Not only Sun and Moon, we hope to reach other planets, like Venus," said Dr Sivan.
