But an MoU on defence cooperation takes ties to a whole new level. In this regard, India has an opening to elevate ties with Morocco by establishing a consulate in the Moroccan Sahara. Given this commonality, India should not hesitate to support Morocco’s legitimate sovereignty over its Sahara provinces and establish an Indian consulate in the Moroccan Sahara. In fact, since last year, several African nations have inaugurated their consulates in the Moroccan Sahara cities of Laayoune and Dakhla. The time is ripe to cement India-Morocco ties through a Moroccan Sahara consulate.
