It is in this context that last week’s visit to the region by U.S. National Security Adviser H.R. Modi must know that his meeting with Mr. Trump is a ‘Yes or No’ moment. Fast-forward on pactsApart from Afghanistan, it is also clear that defence ties will drive the India-U.S. relationship for the foreseeable future.
