With 1,138 new Covid-19 deaths reported from across the country on Sunday, the total number of patients having succumbed to the viral infection in the country has reached about 80,000 (79,752) in the past six months. Karnataka reported second highest (104) new deaths, taking the Covid-19 death toll in the state to 7,265. On Sunday, 93,214 new cases were reported from across the country, taking the total number of Covid-19 positive cases in the country to close to 5 million (4,844,977). Andhra Pradesh is a close second with 567,123 cases reported in a single day, followed by Karnataka with 459,445 cases.
