Index: US lags Portugal on metric for female workers

This year’s index shows for the second year in a row that Sweden is the best place to work if you are a woman, followed by Iceland, Finland, Norway and Portugal. In fifth place, Portugal is particularly good in helping women complete university studies, secure a job, access managerial positions and have representation in the parliament. The United States fell below the OECD average although it scored relatively well on women in senior management positions. South Korea bottoms out the index for the tenth year in a row, with Japan and Turkey not far behind. This is the 10th year that The Economist of London has released its glass-ceiling index.
