Philippine shares rebounded slightly on Thursday after the performance of some of the country’s corporate “heavyweights” on the bourse prompted a new round of last-minute bargain-hunting. Philstocks research associate Piper Chaucer Tan said the PSE saw profit-taking in the beginning of Thursday’s session, although there was a slight drop in value turnover. He also said the average value turnover in the past five trading sessions was P8 billion to P9 billion. The stock market also saw net foreign selling worth P63.15 million on Thursday. Wall Street remained in the red, with the Dow Jones and S&P 500 slipping by 1.04 percent and 0.53 percent, respectively.
