Independent candidate Karunaneethi hopes to pull an upset in Sabai

BENTONG: A former MIC branch vice chairman sprang a surprise today after turning up at the Bentong Municipal Council nomination centre here to contest as an independent candidate in the Sabai state seat for the 14th General Election (GE14). I have also previously served as the Bentong municipal councillor and the experience will certainly be useful. Karunaneethi who is from Karak near here will battle against Barisan Nasional’s Datuk R.Goonasegaran, incumbent D. Kamache from PKR and Mohd Khairuddin Abdullah from Pas in a four-cornered-fight for the Sabai state seat. On his decision to use the fish logo, Karunaneethi said the fish has been always a sign of good luck for him and he hoped that it will bring him good news in the general election. In the 13the General Election, Kamache won the Sabai state seat here by a narrow majority - 117 votes - after she defeated Goonasakaren in a straight fight.
