Politicians in rural Kiambu are facing the challenge of having to explain who an independent candidate is before campaigning. The IEBC requires them to obtain clearance from the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties to be allowed to vie in the August 8 general election. He said they expect the hopefuls to tell them they will vie on Jubilee Party tickets since the coalition is led by the President. They said they will vote for me if they find my name on the ballot paper on the general election. The ex-councillor said Pokots have been using this approach since independence in 1963 and that it will be the case during the general election on August 8.
