As recently as 2014, Statistics Canada reported that, accounting for inflation, the 2013 average minimum wage in Canada, of $10.14, was unchanged from the 1975 minimum wage, of $10.13. The $15 minimum wage is no longer a debating point, but a hard reality across North America. Alberta has set the pace of reform, with a $15 minimum wage that begins in October of next year, a few months before Ontario’s $15 minimum wage does.
