Congress must increase the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) budget to improve the country’s agriculture industry, a Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) officer said on Thursday. [It] also showed us the inefficiency of our supply value chain to support the sector in facilitating the movement of goods. “All of these require an adequate budget for the agriculture sector. “We humbly ask our legislators to allocate [a] sufficient and adequate budget for the agriculture sector,” he added. The DA is pushing to increase its budget from the P79.9 billion allocated this year to P204 billion in 2021.
