WASHINGTON – The U.S. Senate will vote on Wednesday on whether to override President Barack Obama’s veto of a bill allowing relatives of victims in the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks to sue Saudi Arabia. A successful override requires support from two-thirds of lawmakers in both the Senate and House of Representatives, which are controlled by Republicans. If the override vote is successful in the Senate, the House is expected to vote later in the week. Bill sponsors Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, and Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., both expressed confidence following Obama’s veto Friday afternoon that Congress would support the override. On Monday, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., told reporters he was “inclined to vote to override the president.”sept11-senate
