KUALA LUMPUR: Umno has reiterated its call for legislation on foreign political funding to be drawn up in the wake of revelations of alleged foreign intervention in the country. Umno information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa said funding from foreign sources, if left unchecked, could lead to serious repercussions. In politics, funding from foreign sources could determine the rise and fall of a country's leadership. "If this goes on unchecked, foreign intervention could lead to elements of subversion. "That is why we need a law to regulate political funding, but when we ask for it, it is the opposition who disagrees to it," he said at a press conference here today.
