In troubling spike, L.A. County sees 3,000 new coronavirus cases in three days


Los Angeles County has recorded more than 3,000 new coronavirus cases in three days, part of a troubling rise in cases as viral transmission increases among unvaccinated people. It was the first time since early March that the county reported three consecutive days with more than 1,000 new coronavirus cases. On Friday, 1,044 coronavirus cases were reported in Los Angeles County, and an additional 1,069 cases were reported Saturday, according to a Los Angeles Times tally. For the seven-day period that ended Sunday, L.A. County reported an average of 825 new cases a day. On Saturday, L.A. County reported 372 hospitalizations.
