Eid holidaymakers have started leaving Dhaka city for their hometowns although long-route buses and trains remain suspended due to restrictions imposed to stem the spread of Covid-19 . Dhaka Tribune’s Mahmud Hossain Opu captured the rush of people heading home ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr from Gabtoli and Amin Bazar areas of the capital on Friday. On Thursday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked Muslims to celebrate the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr in their present locations to help check the spread of coronavirus across the country. Bangladesh registered 41 deaths from Covid-19 in the 24 hours to Thursday morning, taking the total number of deaths in the country to 11,796. The country also logged a total of 769,160 coronavirus cases with 1,822 people testing positive over the same period.
