CAIRO – 9 July 2022: Thousands of Egyptians have performed the Eid al-Adha Prayer at mosques across governorates, while security and precautionary measures were tightened. Prayers were not allowed inside mosques’ vicinity without facial masks and prayer mats, while social distance was applied among them. By the end of the prayer, floods of balloons were untied and rained mosques’ vicinity in a show of celebration of the feast. In Cairo, there were 449 mosques and allocated areas to receive prayers during Eid al-Adha prayer time. Eid Al-Adha is the most significant feast for Muslims worldwide, as it marks the end of the Hajj (pilgrimage) to the holy city of Mecca.
