In pics: Lost village emerges from lake after over 70 years

The remains of a village have been discovered for the first time in 71 years after the lake drained temporarily. Lake Resia is an artificial lake in the western portion of South Tyrol, Italy, approximately 2 km south of the Reschen Pass. Authorities, around 71 years ago, built a dam and merged two nearby lakes as a result of which Curon was lost to the waters. Social media users posted pictures of the lost village which featured remains of steps, walls and cellars at the former settlement. Lake Resia has the 14th-century church tower emerging from its waters and it is a major tourist attraction.
