Katie Ledecky of the United States celebrates winning gold and setting a new world record in the Women’s 800-meter freestyle. Her 8:04.79 broke the world record by nearly two seconds and delivered Ledecky’s fifth medal in Rio, her fourth gold. Walsh Jennings plods along toward a potential record-setting fourth straight Olympic gold medal when she and Ross face either a Polish or Australian pair in the quarterfinals Sunday. They were undefeated in 18 previous matches this year and looking to become the first team to win consecutive World Cup and Olympic titles. The 30-year-old Texan also put an American record in the books with her 20.63-meter shot.
