A couple of major highlights for other countries included the host nation, Brazil, celebrating its first gold medal, courtesy of judoka Rafaela Silva. It was also another very good day for the U.S. women’s field hockey team, which continued its giant-slaying act. Conor Dwyer won his first individual Olympic medal — with his personal cheering section, “Dwyer Nation,” doing its thing — by finishing third in the men’s 200-meter freestyle. Perhaps no one, however, personified “winning” on Monday more than Usain Bolt, who won’t even compete for several more days. Elsewhere in the pool(s) Monday, Steele Johnson and David Boudia won a silver medal in 10-meter synchronized diving.
