President Trump on Dec. 5 said "there's a great spirit in the Republican Party like I've never seen before, like a lot of people have said they've never seen before." It wasn't like that hostage-y Chris Christie video, but it sure seemed as if Trump was using Flake during the photo op and that Flake wasn't loving it. And Flake's mere presence next to Trump can't help but lend legitimacy to Trump and to his claims about party unity. If Flake thinks Trump is so dangerous, they'll reason, why would he even be seen with him? Trump turned Flake into a prop on Tuesday.
