In a first, 19-year-old twins Mayla and Sofia from a small town in southeastern Brazil underwent female gender confirmation surgery together. The twins have made the transition they long dreamed of together, in what their doctor calls a first. The five-hour-long surgery was performed on the twins one day apart by Dr Jose Carlos Martins. The twins were born in Tapira, a town of 4,000 people in the state of Minas Gerais.
