Most men's sports leagues had a significant head start in the race. This statement doesn't just reflect the fact many men's league began decades before women's professional sports leagues entered the market. But like the other major men's sports leagues, the MLS has been given something women's sports leagues don't often see. The next year, the city of Bridgeview, Illinois built a soccer stadium for the Chicago Fire. Dallas and Chicago are not the only MLS teams to receive public funding for their stadium.
