Set to Tchaikovsky’s 4-movement “Souvenir de Florence,” the 35-minute ballet reveals the eager efforts of a novice dancemaker strung into what feels like infinite hubbub. Happily, the rest of this bill allowed its various casts to present ballet as a form of theater whose poetic dimensions are revealed by choreography that artfully plumbs Tchaikovsky’s music. Soon, however, gaining fresh and vivid life from the impassioned strains of Tchaikovsky’s “Meditation” portion of “Souvenir,” Mr. Ratmansky’s ballet takes flight.
