It was part of a suppression campaign in which his son Saif al-Islam was tentatively charged by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for crimes against humanity. Ten years later, Saif al-Islam hopes to become a Libyan leader in the presidential election scheduled for December 24th. A few days after his father was killed, Saif al-Islam was captured by a fighter from Jintan and has remained there ever since. Saif al-Islam, who registered for last month’s election, wore a traditional robe and turban that resembled the clothing that Kadafi often sees. He was initially disqualified after being convicted by a Libyan court in absentia in 2015 for a war crime allegedly committed during an uprising.
