Security personnel rush towards the encounter site at Hajin area of Kashmir’s Bandipora district. Earlier, both defence sources and the police said the security personnel killed in the encounter were from the Army. Earlier reports said the gun battle erupted when the security personnel surrounded the Paribal village early on Wednesday following specific inputs about militants’ presence in a house. Over a 1,000 commandos comprise the Garud unit, which was formed in September 2004. The Garud commandos are trained along the lines of Navy’s MARCOS and Army’s para commandos.
