Rahul made a plain statement and did not intent to harm the reputation of RSS. ""The reference to killers of Gandhiji had come in Rahul's speech only because he felt that names of Gandhiji and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel were appropriated or usurped by BJP though both the leaders originally belonged to Congress. The issue which may need consideration before the trial court is whether RSS had owned that the assassins were members of RSS." The high court's ruling came on March 10, 2015.Complainant R M Kunte had told the HC that RSS did not own Gandhi's assassins as its members. After hearing the parties, the HC had dismissed Rahul's petition saying, "In my considered opinion, there is no substance in the petition."
