ISLAMABAD: Seeking to revive the country’s heritage, Prime Minister Imran Khan will launch Al-Beruni Radius, a tourism project, today in Jhelum, Radio Pakistan reported. Prime Minister @ImranKhanPTI will pay a visit to Nandana Fort and launch it as heritage site tomorrow. The PM is keen in preservation and conservation of the site, aimed at converting it into an international tourism site. pic.twitter.com/82pohlv89q — Prime Minister’s Office, Pakistan (@PakPMO) February 27, 2021The site’s archeological significance dates back to the 11th century when famous scholar Abu Rehan Al-Beruni quantified the circumference of the earth during his visit to the place, Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement. Earlier, as part of his initiative to promote tourism, Prime Minister Imran had witnessed an agreement signing between the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and World Bank for eco-tourism under which the government would expand road networks to boost tourism.
